>> Back-to-back gardens - Ashtree Reflections

Reflections has been built to celebrate Ashtree’s 20 years in business in May 2006. The title is relevant to the development of the company in various sectors of the landscaping industry, since it was formed in 1986 by Managing Director Richard Dawson.

The black timber, shapes and stark contrasts of the hard landscaping and planting evoke an Oriental feel, although there are no oriental symbols in the design. A silver birch stands on a bed of black gravel. Black Indian stone, frosted glass, brushed metal and water complement the natural palette of the planting, emphasising its colour, form and texture, and creating a sense of warmth and well-being.

The raised beds provide interest and shape against a reflective boundary of frosted glass, creating a contemporary feel. The pergola reflects the formation of the black Indian stone paving, and the stepping stones, which lead through a channel of water, give the sensation of walking on water.

Tranquillity, harmony, calmness and reflection are all things we strive to attain, and are fundamental to this garden’s design.
